Will this work on my iPhone?
Yes, on iPhone 13 or newer running iOS 17 or later. The app runs in your Safari browser; no download from the App Store is needed. Tap the mic, speak, and your translation plays back. The first time you use it, your iPhone will ask permission to use the microphone. Tap "Allow."
Do I need an internet connection?
Yes. Any working connection a traveler in Mexico is likely to encounter will handle it: 3G in a small town, 4G in any city or resort, hotel WiFi, even a US carrier's international day-pass. The translation happens entirely on a server, not your phone, using as little bandwidth as listening to a song on Spotify.
How is this different from other translators?
Most translators make you type a phrase and read the result out loud. It's slow, awkward, and only goes one direction at a time. Spark is built for a real conversation. You talk, the other person hears it in their language, they reply, and you hear it back, instantly, both directions. Is my conversation private?
Yes. We never store audio recordings, and we've turned off the setting that would let OpenAI (the AI that powers our translation) use your conversations to train its models. The only thing we save is a written transcript, kept privately in your own history so you can look back at what was said. You can delete any conversation, or your whole account, anytime. What if I run out of minutes?
If you use up the talk-time included with your plan, you can add 30 more minutes for $4.99 anytime, instantly. One tap, no plan change.
How do I cancel?

Does it work for languages other than Spanish?
Right now Spark translates between English and Spanish, both directions. More languages are on the way, and when they're ready they'll be included in your current plan at no extra cost.
What if it doesn't work for me?
