Spark ("Spark", "we", "us", "our") is a live voice-translation service operated by Daydream Labs LLC, a New York limited liability company. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions? Email hello@spark.talk.
Your conversations come first
Spark translates speech in real time. To do that, your microphone audio is streamed to our AI translation provider (OpenAI) and translated on the fly. Here is exactly how we handle it:
- We never store your audio. It is processed live to produce the translation and is not recorded or saved by us.
- We turned off AI training on your conversations. We have enabled the setting that prevents OpenAI from using your conversations to train its models.
- We save written transcripts of your translated conversations so you can look back at addresses, directions, and details later. Transcripts are private to your signed-in account.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Apple, Facebook, or Google, we receive your name (if you share it) and email address to create your account. We never receive your social or email password.
- Conversation transcripts and usage. The text of your translated conversations, plus session details such as duration and language direction, and the translation minutes remaining on your plan.
- Payment information. Purchases are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number — Stripe does. We keep a record of your plan, billing dates, and payment status.
- Basic usage analytics. We use PostHog to understand how people use Spark (for example, which pages are viewed and which features are used). We never send your conversation audio or transcript text to our analytics.
How we use your information
To provide and improve Spark, process your payments and subscription, send you account and service emails (through Resend), prevent fraud and abuse, and meet our legal, tax, and payment-compliance obligations. We do not sell your personal information.
Service providers we share with
We share information only with the providers that make Spark work:
- OpenAI — real-time translation (audio in, translation out; not used to train their models).
- Stripe — payment and subscription processing.
- Apple, Facebook, and Google — secure sign-in.
- Resend — sending your account and service emails.
- PostHog — product analytics (never your audio or transcript text).
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Spark and our users.
Your choices and rights
- Delete any single conversation from your history, or clear your entire history, anytime in the app.
- Delete your account anytime from account settings. This removes your transcripts and conversation history. We may keep limited payment and tax records as the law requires.
- California residents have rights under the CCPA, including the right to know, delete, and not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. To make a request, email hello@spark.talk.
Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to keep the service secure. Our analytics may use limited cookies or local storage to understand usage. We do not use advertising cookies on Spark.
Data retention
We keep your transcripts and account data while your account is active and delete them when you delete your account, except for records we must retain for tax, fraud-prevention, and payment-compliance purposes.
Children
Spark is intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to use Spark or create an account. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Where we operate
Spark is operated from the United States by a U.S. company and is built for U.S.-based travelers to use while abroad. Wherever you are when you use Spark, your information is processed in the United States, and by using Spark you consent to that processing.
Changes to this policy
If our practices change, we will update this page and revise the "last updated" date above.
